Overview of the book
The AI Shield: Defending Against Zero-Day Threats with Intelligent IDS is a comprehensive guide that explores the integration of artificial intelligence into cybersecurity systems, specifically focusing on the detection and prevention of zero-day threats using intelligent intrusion detection systems (IDS). The book begins by establishing the foundational concepts of AI, machine learning, and cybersecurity, then progresses to discuss various IDS architectures and their limitations in handling modern, sophisticated cyberattacks. It delves deeply into the role of machine learning and deep learning models in enhancing threat detection capabilities, offering practical insights into model development, data handling, and evaluation techniques. Central to the book is the concept of “The AI Shield,” a multi-layered, adaptive, and autonomous defense framework that leverages real-time analytics and self-learning mechanisms to identify and respond to emerging threats. Concluding with case studies, deployment strategies, and a discussion on ethical challenges and future trends, the book serves as both a technical reference and strategic roadmap for researchers, developers, and cybersecurity professionals aiming to build next-generation defense systems.

Mr. Mohammad Majharul Islam Jabed is a technology professional, researcher, and author with a deep-rooted passion for understanding how systems—both digital and organizational—operate, evolve, and sometimes break. His journey began with a fascination for the mechanics behind technology and matured into a career focused on data-driven problem-solving and AI-powered security. Jabed holds a Master’s degree in Information Technology from Washington University of Science and Technology and an MBA from the State University of Bangladesh. This combination of technical and business education allows him to effectively bridge the gap between IT solutions and organizational strategy. He has over five years of industry experience as a Senior Officer in Management Information Systems (MIS) at a multinational company and currently works as a Business Analyst. In this role, he leads initiatives in data analysis, stakeholder engagement, system testing, and risk management—driving efficiency and value through informed decision-making. His research contributions span key areas of artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on sustainable, scalable, and secure systems. One of his studies investigates AI-driven automation strategies for cross-platform application testing, demonstrating how intelligent automation can significantly enhance testing efficiency and accuracy, particularly in Salesforce-based environments. Another body of work explores the integration of machine learning with core computer science paradigms such as distributed systems and cloud computing—addressing challenges in scalability and security by proposing hybrid, resilient frameworks. Additionally, Jabed has contributed to advancing self-supervised learning techniques aimed at reducing the data dependency of deep learning models. By enabling systems to learn from unlabeled data, his research supports more energy-efficient and accessible AI deployments. He is currently authoring a book titled The AI Shield: Defending Against Zero-Day Threats with Intelligent IDS, which reflects his conviction that artificial intelligence—when designed with foresight and responsibility—can serve as a formidable line of defense against evolving cyber threats. Beyond his professional and academic work, Jabed is dedicated to mentoring young professionals and promoting the ethical development of emerging technologies. He continues to contribute meaningfully to the evolving dialogue at the intersection of innovation, cybersecurity, and trust in the digital age.
