Manufacturing Processes provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental techniques used to transform raw materials into finished engineering products. The book explains the principles, methods, equipment, and applications of major manufacturing operations. It covers metal casting processes, including sand casting, mould construction, and pattern design. Various metal joining techniques, particularly welding, are discussed with their equipment and industrial applications. Bulk deformation processes such as forging, rolling, drawing, and extrusion are explained in detail. The book also explores sheet metal forming, material formability, and specialised forming operations. Plastic processing techniques used in manufacturing industrial and consumer products are introduced. Technical explanations are supported by illustrations, comparative tables, and practical examples. Important manufacturing parameters and their influence on product quality are highlighted. The book examines dimensional accuracy, surface finish, material behaviour, and production efficiency. The advantages and limitations of different manufacturing methods are discussed to support effective process selection. Manufacturing economics and resource utilisation are also considered. Emphasis is placed on connecting theoretical concepts with practical engineering applications. The content helps readers understand the relationship between materials, processes, and finished product characteristics. It introduces the importance of quality control and efficient production planning. The book is suitable for undergraduate engineering students, diploma students, educators, and technical professionals. It serves as a valuable resource for academic learning and foundational professional development. The systematic presentation supports a clear understanding of essential manufacturing concepts. Overall, Manufacturing Processes establishes a strong foundation for exploring modern manufacturing technologies, automation, process improvement, and advanced production systems.
